For The Best

This Week:

What is the first thing you do when you meet someone new and you want to know more about them? You find their social media accounts and you scroll ever so carefully, trying not to double-tap anything. We all do it. You have probably done it to everyone from your small group leader to your teammates.

We’ve all done this at some point!

There is, however, one thing we don’t put out there for everyone to see: the person you like or want to date. If I were to throw your most recent potential relationship on the screen and tell the whole room about it, that would not be okay! It would be so uncomfortable! So, we keep that mostly to ourselves.

Regardless of why, there are many reasons why letting people into our relationships might be uncomfortable. We’re going to take a look at a passage in a book of the Bible called Proverbs. It’s a book filled with wise sayings, insights, and principles to help us make better choices in life. Solomon says this…

“For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisors” (Proverbs 11:14 NIV)

Solomon is saying that if a nation or a people group doesn’t have enough wise counsel, then it might fall apart. And the same is true when it comes to our life. If we only rely on ourselves for guidance and direction, at some point we’re going to fall.

Bottom Line:

Without people that make you better, you can miss out on what’s best.

You only know what you know - what you’ve personally experienced and navigated in your own life. But when we walk alongside others who have more experience or even just different experiences, it can help us see the bigger picture and help us become the best version of ourselves.

Weekly Objective:

So this week I want to encourage you to do three things to find your advisor…

1. Find someone to speak to that is objective and does not agree with everything that we do

2. Find someone who has already been there

3. Reach out
